SIMPLE LENTIL SOUP (DAL)



This soup will give you that warm feeling of home-cooked food. The warm soup with make you feel relaxed and rejuvinated.



Use a cooking vessel enough to hold 5-6 cups of water.
Take the following and add it to 4 cups of water in the vessel.



Lentils are cooked in about 15-20 minutes on medium heat. Keep checking and adding water if necessary to the mixture, until the lentils are fully cooked.



1 cup of Lentils (washed thoroughly) Use pink or orange lentils
4 cups of water
2 dried red chillies (don't worry they will only add to the flavor)
2 tomatoes (chopped in small cubes)
1 small onion (chopped finely)
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon of garlic
1 teaspoon of Adobo salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric



After the lentils are cooked, separately heat 2 1/2 tablespoons of oil (your choice) in a small pan, for 2 minutes.



Add:1 1/4 teaspoons of cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds
1/4 cup of chopped cilantro
The juice of 1/2 lime or lemon

Wait until slightly brown and fried.
Add to the lentil soup and mix thoroughly.



Add salt to taste! And enjoy!
