"Sugar Queen" By Sarah Addison Allen
A story of a young girl caught in a guilt-ridden trap with her mother. She is tied to her mother inextricably. Her life is devoted to her mother who is a social butterfly and lives off the fortunes of her husbands.
Her daughter, Josie wants her life to be different, yet she does not have the motivation nor anything or anybody who can stimulate her to afford a change.
Then one day, everything changes and Josie's life changes ever so slowly at first, and then dramatically. She discovers herself and her individuality. She discovers that life can be without her controlling mother.
Magic is woven in throughout the story and gives a nice happy cloud feeling, as well as a bit of comic relief while progressing through the story.
I highly recommend this book. A nice light read and a must-read for the summer!
