HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR TREES?

I was out the other day in a park called Kissena Park with my family, and I noticed that I could only name a handful of trees by their leaves. Mainly from Botany Class in school. How many of these do you know?? The picture above is one of the flowers I saw at Kissena Park.



This tree was just really weird. It seemed like it had a personality and was actually looking at me...
Creepy!!

I took some pictures of a few tree leaves, some I think I named correctly. Maybe some of you out there know trees better than I do. If you think or know I have guessed wrong... please comment. :)

TREE #1:
This, I believe is an Elm Tree.
Its leaves have double-serrated edges.



TREE #2:
This one I'm pretty sure is an oak tree..



TREE #3:
The Good Ol' Maple Tree



TREE #4:
An Ivy I believe...



TREE #5:
Not sure about this one?? Any Ideas??



TREE #6:
A Poplar??



TREE #7:
This tree could be an Elm Tree or even a Green Ash. I'm not sure about this one.


I hope this exercise will help us all to look at our trees and to learn more about them!!!

SunFlowers From Centre Island, on Lake Ontario

I saw such beauty on an Island called Centre Island on Lake Ontario, off Canada's Coast line near Toronto City.
The Sunflowers you see above were actually only as big as the nail on your thumb. How often do we really stop to look at the nature around us?
My Aunt, whom I walking with could not see the flower that I took a picture of. It looks so omnipresent on the camera, but we have to really look to see some of the beauty that is right in front of our eyes.

Orange Calla Lilly: My Favorite Flower!

The Orange Calla Lilly you see above is my favorite flower. And its the flower that is sitting in my living room right NOW! I took this picture because I just couldn't resist! The beauty of a Lily just overwhelms me!!

I buy a bunch occasionally to liven up my living room, especially when I have visitors.

This time I bought beautiful vibrant orange Lillies. I love the splash of orange in my otherwise dark brown and green color distribution.
The other name for it is the "Fire Lilly".

Believe it or not, but in some cultures, i.e. Irish: it is a symbol of disdain, especially when given as a gift. I want to research more on the Orange Calla Lilly and find out why it has such a negative connotation in the Irish Culture.

Does anyone have any ideas?
